1/4cupWhole Old Fashioned Rolled OatsGluten-free if needed
1/3-1/2cupWater
2Datespitted and chopped into small pieces
1Handful of Toasted Walnutsor nut of choice
1tspChia Seeds
1TbspNut Butter of choice
1/4cupApplechopped into small pieces
1Tbspof Raisins or Dried Cherriesoptional
Dash of Cinnamon
Pinchof Nutmegoptional
Dash of pink Himalayan sea salt
Instructions
In small bowl, place rolled oats, chia seeds, and freshly chopped dates.
Pour 1/3 c boiling water over oat mixture, drizzling slowly. Cover bowl with a plate to allow oats to steam soften for 2-3 minutes while preparing toppings.
Note: I use 1/3 cup boiling water to 1/4 c oats, but if you are not planning to eat the oats immediately, use 1/2 cup boiling water because they will need more moisture the longer they sit. (Although using too much water will result in a mushier texture, so go sparingly until you find the consistency that you prefer most).
Toast a handful of nuts in a medium heat skillet for a few minutes until lightly toasted and aromatic.
Chop about half an apple into small pieces (1/4 c).
Removing plate from the bowl of oats (oats should be soft and tender, water absorbed), top oats with a drizzle of nut butter, fruit pieces, nuts, dried fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
